DIY Mic Pre Kits, Lunchbox Mic Preamp Kits, Power Supply Kits

I am shortly going to be building my first SC-1 (very excited) and I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good sized project case for one channel + VU meter. It will be sitting on my desktop next to my digital control surface, so I'm thinking that the ergonomics of something like a Tube MP is closest to ideal: a little more 'effect pedal' in design than rack-mount. Any advice would be appreciated.

I'm in Europe, but cases with US availability only are still helpful, since just being able to look at the dimensions online will be a useful starting point for finding the equivalent over here.

OK, now that I'm thinking this through, a 1U half-rack should probably be just right, correct? Any words to the wise about materials? Thanks!

Aluminum is the easiest to work with. Soft, won't rust, won't tarnish, good conductivity.

Cool, thanks for the info. What would you say the minimum H x W x D dimensions I could get away with are, while keeping the trafo sufficiently far from the signal lines? Plus a little bit of extra wiggle room since I'm a newbie .
