Hi everybody,

I'm working on my 3rd PM1000 rack-up. 44 and 48 measure correctly; everything works fine, but there is audible buzz coming from the toroidal transformer. I think it's far enough away from anything else and properly grounded. I tried spinning it and it doesn't change. It's also pretty hot -- too hot to touch, but doesn't smoke or anything like that.

Any ideas? Is the transformer bad?

Please Unplug it.... if it's too hot to touch, you have a problem somewhere. Sounds like a short. Have you checked all your wiring?

There should be no buzzing from the trafo... and it shouldn't get hot.

Pay particular attention to how you wired the 2 primaries in parallel. You may have the 2 primaries in opposing polarities. Please see the PSU assembly guide for the correct wiring.

Just an update on this problem... the user solved the buzzing problem. There was a short underneath the PSU PCB.... he forgot to cut the long lead wires.
