I ruined my 3 rail from JLM and that was due to poor instructions availability. I have the 12v/12v. Can I use this or am I having to purchase or mod anything? Thank you all for any help in this matter.

You need an 18+18 transformer.

A 12+12 would not have enough voltage to reach 18volts, or 48V.

this is the 110/220 Powertran 30vac ...12vac + 12vac power transformer. It was enough to power their 3 rail for 48 and up to 30... I don't understand, are you sure, maybe I didn't explain it correctly?

I think they added 12+12 = 24Vac. Then it is possible to get 30+VDC out of this configuration. To get their 48Volts, they probably used a voltage doubler circuit.

On my PSU, I'm using 18+18 transformer. Each winding by itself is enough to supply up to 24VDC. So you have a +24V, and a -24V DC output. Then 18+18=36Vac which becomes 50+Vdc, then regulated down to 48V.

The cost difference between a 12+12 30VA and an 18+18 30VA transformer is not a lot.

So can I use this 2448 with my world power for 18+ 18- and 48 phantom? I was instructed to add the 12's together to bring 24 to jlm 3 rail before I ruined it.....Thanks for your help.

What's a world power? Sorry, not familiar with it.

If you need +/-18V and 48V, you need my PSU-2448 kit, and my 18+18vac Transformer. You can buy both together as a package deal with discounted pricing.

I just explained that I already own the powertran worldpower from jlm and want to use the 2448 I just go in the mail from you to power my pair of 312's. I can go without 48 if thats what I have to do to make these work for now. DO you understand what I am trying to achieve?

The most you can *probably* get from a 12+12Vac trafo with my psu kit is +/- 16Vdc. (and 33Vdc for phantom power).

Now, I just want to say... that a toroid transformer gives you the advantage and flexibility of rotating the toroid transformer the find the "Sweet spot" where hum and EM interference is at the minimum, or doesn't cause interference with your preamp.
