I came up with a mod for the X12 preamp. To keep up with the "fish" theme, I'm calling it the "Blue Marlin Mod." :)

So what do we do with a preamp that has a big bottom? We make it sound bigger and extend the low end even more!

This mod also increases the preamp's gain by another 6dB. So there you go... extended low end frequency reach, and more gain. What's not to like?

Future X-12 preamps sold will have the "Blue Marlin Mod" implemented.

Hello there. Would this mean that if I ordered today, an X-12mk500 would have this mod included? Thanks.

But wait... building upon improvements made in the "Blue Marlin Mod", we now have the "Red Snapper Mod".

It's a very small change, nevertheless, an improvement.

Future pres will have the "Red Snapper Mod" included.

Change the Rf resistor (positioned above IC1) from 10K to 22K6.

optional: Add a 270pf capacitor across RL.
