I tested the Active DI today.... wow nice! Using a cheap Epiphone flying V guitar, hehehe.

Plugged in the jack to the guitar, then to the preamp... No way!! No hum, no buzz, no rf junk on the lines. Absolutely clean. I am absolutely pleasantly surprised about this....

Then you strum the guitar, and all you hear are the sounds of the strings.

Well, I'm not that *totally* surprised about the performance... because the DI circuit has been thoroughly tested on a breadboard beforehand and am happy with the result of that testing... but man, moving everything from the breadboard to a proper PCB, with grounding and double-sided ground layers... it was even quieter and noise-free than the breadboard testing.

As I said, I know the Active DI will work good... but totally unexpected it will work THIS good!

To boot... the -20dB pad also works when you select Instrument input via the 1/4" jack.

And this testing is on the Mini-IO kit which doesn't have the input transformer.

I bet this Active DI will sound even better with the IO-Module Kit (which does have the input and output trafo).

Nahhh, not teasing.

I just want to test it as much as I can, and look for problems/solutions before it gets big.

Getting there....
