Hello

My SC-1 works very well, but, I've got a probem with my insert output. I need an asymmetrical output for a video camera and my PCM minidisc.

I've solder an insert cable as shown on the assembly guide p16 and i've removed JP2 shorting jumper... the cable has been tested and works well.

what information do you need in order to help me?
Greetings

What you can do is just tap on the balanced outputs... use pins 2 and 3 as your unbalanced output.

Or do it single-ended... use pins 2 and 1 (Gnd).

Because it's not balanced anymore. That's what you give up by going unbalanced.

You don't have any more CMRR. And since it's not differential anymore, you also lose 6dB (half) of your signal.

it's why i tryied to use the insert output as an unbalanced output, in order to get a normal gain

I'm not sure what you mean by "normal" gain...

Even if you use the insert output, you'd still have the same issues... i.e. 6dB less gain (half) and susceptibility to noise at high gains (because you don't have the CMRR capability of balanced signals anymore).

The balanced driver on the preamp board will A) give you 6dB more ouput, and B) helps you connect to the next gear in a balanced configuration.

You give up all the benefits of balanced connection if you go unbalanced. It doesn't matter where you tap the signal. If it's unbalanced, it's unbalanced. The INSERT OUTs are unbalanced.
